Letter-Writing Campaign to Free Political Prisoner Sekou Kambui #FreeSekou

sekouFrom Denver Anarchist Black Cross

Sekou Cinque T. M. Kambui (S/N William J. Turk) has requested a letter-writing campaign asserting his innocence in preparation for his upcoming parole hearing, which could be held as early as February of 2014.
Sekou maintains that he has committed no crime, and yet has been under the heel of the State since 1975, when he was accused of murdering a wealthy white oil-man and a KKK member in Alabama. He was pulled over in January of 1975 and accused of and arrested for the December ’74 murder after a 9mm pistol was found in his car. Multiple witnesses in his first trial later reported that they had been coerced into testifying against Sekou, after which every defense witness was driven out of the state by police intimidation. No proven murder weapon has been found, and neither Sekou nor the pistol found in his car has never been linked to the crime scene.
As a member of the Black Panther Party and organizer with a variety of organizations, including SNCC and the Republic of New Afrika, Sekou was caught up in the COINTELPRO dragnet in the State’s effort suppress dissent
and make activism criminal. He must be freed! (more…)

From Support Kevin & Tyler

Kevin Olliff is on hunger strike until the Woodford County Jail book ban is reversed.

It has been over 6 weeks since Michael Waterforth banned all books from entering the Woodford County Jail. Today Kevin announced that he is prepared to go without food until the book ban is lifted. The hunger strike is effective as of midnight, Wednesday night.

Letters urgently needed for Jeremy Hammond

jeremyhammondFrom NYC Anarchist Black Cross

Jeremy Hammond, who is being held right here in NYC, has an upcoming sentencing date. In preparation for that, his support crew is urging folks to write letters requesting leniency from the judge. NYC ABC, in turn, are asking you to help Jeremy and his supporters. Historically, pre-sentencing letters have proven to persuade judges’ opinions in that they show how much support someone has and how valuable they are to their communities. Jeremy deserves to be free NOW, so whatever you can do to encourage Judge Preska to do the right thing, please do it. And don’t forget to pack the courtroom on Friday, November 15th, the day on which Jeremy will be sentenced.

From freejeremy.net:
“We are currently collecting letters of support to ask Judge Loretta Preska for leniency in sentencing.

You can find the template below, or you can download it in either Microsoft Word or PDF formats.

The deadline for submitting these letters is October 15, 2013. (more…)
