Call & Fax in for Robert Seth Hayes: April 27-30

robertsethhayesFrom POW Medical Justice

Robert Seth Hayes is one of the longest held political prisoners in the US. He is 66 years old and suffers from multiple chronic and concerning medical problems. As many of you know, we recently waged a medical campaign for him a few months ago regarding rapid and concerning weight loss as well as poorly controlled diabetes. Neither of these concerns have been addressed to date. NYS DOCCS states on its website that denial of adequate medical care is a violation of a person’s eighth amendment constitutional rights, so please help demand that Seth be provided with proper care.

Call In 12/4 and 12/5! Robert Seth Hayes Medical Justice Days of Action

robertsethhayesFrom Denver Anarchist Black Cross

Robert Seth Hayes is one of the longest held political prisoners in the US. He is being held at Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, NY .Seth
is moving into his late 60’s and is passing 41 years of incarceration on a 25 to life sentence being hit at the parole board 10 times for extra 16 yrs. Seth suffers from poorly controlled diabetes mellitus and frequent bouts of low blood sugar. Seth has been denied snacks by prison staff at family visits which has resulted in episodes of low blood sugar. He has documented these incidents and appealed to prison staff on multiple occasions with no response.

It is medically necessary that Seth have access to snacks and/or sugar tablets to treat his low blood sugars when they happen. Untreated hypoglycemia is dangerous and can lead to mental confusion, unconsciousness, and seizures. Seth has experienced several such incidents in the past decade. Seth needs to have appropriate treatment for hypoglycemia available at all times and a reevaluation of his insulin regimen.

It is crucially important that we pressure Sullivan Correctional Facility to provide appropriate medical treatment for Seth.

Please join our phone-call and letter/fax campaign on Thurs 12/4 and Fri 12/5! (talking points and sample letter below)

Urgent Health Campaign for Robert Seth Hayes, #74-A-2280

robertsethhayesNYC Jericho:

Talking Points:

Robert Seth Hayes is currently 65 years old. He was first diagnosed with Type II diabetes in the year 2000. In the 13 years since then, DOCCS has been completely unable to control his blood sugar levels. At the time he was diagnosed, Mr. Hayes was at Clinton. He was transferred to Wende in 2003 and then to Sullivan in 2010.

Throughout this time, Mr. Hayes’ sugar levels have either soared to the 300 to 400 levels or been extremely low, in the 50 to 70 levels, both life-threatening. Mr. Hayes also has Hepatitis C, for which he is currently not receiving any treatment. (more…)

Revolutionary greetings and callout for support from BLA POW Robert Seth Hayes

Revolutionary greetings, dear comrades, friends and supporters.

This is Robert Seth Hayes, a former member of the Black Panther Party and a Black Liberation Army combatant. Still incarcerated, yet still progressing, I am determined to have closure to an era of Civil Rights struggles. To those of you who have been partners in solidarity, I extend my arms to enfold you, let the vibration of my beating heart, surround and comfort you. And may my spirit ever illuminate as a light along the path, as you continue your journey of making history. Greetings of profound respect. To all the Sisters and Brothers new to this all inclusive struggle: welcome, thank you, your support and attention are sorely needed.

In June of 2012 I will return to the New York State parole board, and again apply for release. After being originally incarcerated in 1973, I first came up for parole in 1998, and have continued to receive two year hits since then. At present, we are again engaged in fund raising mode for our new legal strategy and have our work cut out for us. We are our own liberators, so we again ask you for assistance. (more…)
