Carrboro Town Commons in Carrboro, North Carolina

A wild party! The Carrboro Really Really Free Market is celebrating its ten-year anniversary with a massive festival! You’re invited for a whole weekend of really really free activities. We’re hoping comrades from around the world will join us in making this something to remember!

A clash of utopias! Come demonstrate the life you would prefer to capitalism. Set up a booth, offer a workshop, put on a performance, screen a film, carry out some dramatic action, obtain and distribute some resource no one could imagine being free. We want to see a wide range of utopian visions and ungovernable desires manifested. Rather than simply opposing what exists, reactively, we dare you to demonstrate that your alternative to competition and obedience is more nourishing, more exciting, and more fulfilling than anything the market can offer. New “Prisons Are For Burning” T-Shirts!

Currently out of stock

The Mysterious Rabbit Puppet Army reprinted shirts from their hit show What Are Prisons For?  and donated them to us to help raise funds. The shirts come in red with black writing. They’re printed on Tultex brand shirts that are 100% sweatshop free. They are $20 , but sign up to become a Prison Books Sustainer and get one for free.

Every single dollar received goes to mailing packages of books to prisoners. We rely solely on donations for our operating expenses, which primarily include the cost of postage for mailing packages.

We are currently spending over $200 a week on postage alone, and are in desperate need of support.

To order the shirts donate twenty dollars or more OR sign up to be a sustainer, then email us at  prisonbooks (at) gmail dot com with your size and the address where you would like the shirt sent to.

Political Prisoner Birthday Poster For July Is Now Available

Hello Friends and Comrades,

Here is the political prisoner birthday poster for July. As always, please post this poster publicly and/or use it to start a card writing night of your own.

Firstly, please write Justin Solondz a letter. After being extradited from China and convicted of Earth Liberation Front actions in the United States, Green Scare target Justin Solondz has been transferred to a prison in western Pennsylvania. This puts him much closer to his parents than when he was imprisoned at FDC SeaTac. Please let Justin know you’re thinking about him by sending a card or letter to:

Mysterious Rabbit Puppet Army Summer Tour

Our lovable comrades of the Mysterious Rabbit Puppet Army, whose work we’ve shared here before, are embarking on a month-long tour presenting their newest production, “Donny Quixote!” The show offers a scathing critique of “green” capitalism and technologya a humorous adaptation of the story of Don Quixote. MRPA will offer two other feature performances as well, alongside a wide range of literature relating to the content of the shows.

This tour is intended to help build a culture of ecological resistance that embraces a diversity of tactics, including direct action. The narratives debunk the false solutions that capitalists propose in response to the ongoing ecological crisis.

Puppets vs. Prisons Round 2

Memebers of our collective  in the Mysterious Rabbit Puppet Army are following up their summer shows with a short winter tour down south. Their feature show, “What Are Prisons For?”, uses shadow puppets to outline the history of the Prison Industrial Complexfrom chattel slavery in the South to today’s exploding prison population. We highly recommend this excellent introduction for viewers of all ages.

They still have a few dates open, so email them (mysteryrabbit at riseup dot net) if you can help!
