Political Prisoner Birthday Poster For May 2016 Is Now Available

May Political Prisoner Birthday Cake

Hello Friends and Comrades,

  1. Happy belated May Day!
  2. Here is the political prisoner birthday poster for May.(11″x17″ PDF, 502KB) Print it out and plaster your community, both in commemoration of these freedom fighters and to advertise locally for a political prisoner letter writing night. Get together with some friends in your town to send birthday cards to these fighters in our struggle. It’s an easy way to help remind them that they aren’t forgotten. If you make one, remember—don’t use anything like white-out, stickers, tape or glitter on it. We also recommend that you put a return name and address and their name and prisoner number on the card, lest the authorities “lose” the envelope and forget where it is going. If you would like to add a birthday or sign up for our poster mailing list (not a listserv, one email per month), or if you would like to contribute in another way to increasing the profile of US political prisoners, email us at ppbirthday@riseup.net.
  3. A special thank you to the designers of this month’s poster. Designers are constantly bombarded with requests to work their trade for free, for publicity, or for a cause, and every month the PPBD Posters project relies on their generosity of time, skill and devotion to the cause of prison abolition.
  4. If you haven’t already started preparations for this year’s International Day of Solidarity with Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners on June 11th, now is the perfect time to start.

    Rise, like lions after slumber
    In unvanquishable number!
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you:
    Ye are many—they are few!

  5. Do you need help advertising for your local Political Prisoner Letter Writing Night? Are you interested in distributing physical copies of the poster? Write to us and let’s find a way to get physical copies of our poster to you: ppbirthday@riseup.net
  6. Keep your eyes on the Support Prisoner Resistance Blog for updates on prisoner strikes in Texas and Alabama, as well as much more.
  7. Be sure to check out the latest Political Prisoner/Prisoner Of War every-other week update (PDF, 392KB) by the NYC-Anarchist Black Cross. There are lots of important updates on many political prisoners. This one includes updates on Barrett Brown, Leonard Peltier, Jared Chase, and more.

Remember: They are in there for us, we are out here for them!

Fellow Workers: Remember! We are in here for you, you are out there for us!

AN ALVARO LUNA HERNANDEZ UPDATE

alvaro-luna-hernandezFrom Sacramento Prisoner Support

On June 27th Alvaro Luna Hernandez was moved to the  James V. Allred Unit in brutal fashion. About a month later Sacramento Prisoner Support received a very welcome letter where he updates us on the conditions of the move, and his current situation. He wanted this update to be shared with the world. Let’s pass this along, and make sure Alvaro’s voice is heard. If you click on these two images they’ll be much easier to read. (more…)

Final Straw: Alvaro Luna Hernandez, Oso Blanco & metal

alvaroFrom The Final Straw

This week’s episode features three elements.

The first is a call-out on behalf of Oso Blanco (Byron Shane Chabbuck #07909051) in his bid to receive medical treatment for chronic illness (Hep-C) and an unexplored growth in his liver that cause debilitating pain and have resulted in health crises for him. We suggest you participate in the call-in day on Wednesday, December 18th. More info on the call should soon be found at: http://denverabc.wordpress.com/prisoners-dabc-supports/political-prisone…

The main portion of the episode features an interview with Alvaro Luna Hernandez, a Chicano political prisoner serving a 50 year sentence in Texas for disarming a Sheriff who pulled a gun on him, and then fleeing. Mr. Hernandez speaks about his case, his legal history, his political development, and his imprisonment. Special thanks to the Central Texas Anarchist Black Cross for this material. More info on Alvaro can be found at http://freealvaro.net

The final portion of the show features 3 new metal tracks: I by Dusk from their EP; Black Fast with Levitations from Starving Out The Light; and Voidcraeft from the album Scorn with the track As If Amongst Animals.

The playlist can be found here

Alvaro Luna Hernandez: Another Bogus Case

15 Feb. 2012
Hughes Nazis Prison

TO CENTRAL TEXAS ABC, ABCF, DEFENSE COMMITTEE SUPPORTERS, AND ALL FREEDOM LOVING PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, – AN OPEN LETTER

“…[W]e give this notice, so that our brothers in chains will not be alarmed when they see us in the claws of authority; we give this notice so that no one will be discouraged, so that all will continue onward. If we are persecuted, we do not want discouragement to spread, but rather that with doubled vigor all proceed with the great work undertaken until the goal is achieved: the death of the capitalist system…”

– Ricardo Flores Magon,
Oct. 1915, murdered by guards
at Leavenworth, Kan.
Federal Prison, 1922

Although the fascist pigs extinguished his life on the earth in 1922, he will always live in our hearts and in our memory – Brother Ricardo Flores Magon, revolutionary anarchist, Presente!!! I was taken before the disciplinary “kangaroo court” yesterday, found guilty, and relegated to 90 days of extreme deprivation conditions in Level-3, conditions that were outlawed in March 1999 by federal judge Justice in Ruiz v. Johnson, 37 F. Supp. 2d 855 (S.D. Tex. 1999) he described as CONSTITUTING TORTURE. I mailed you a Step 1 Grievance filed here on 12 Feb. 2012. Specifically, the MENTALLY ILL are subjected to such atrocious brutalities and inhumanities that would make HITLER’S AUSCHWITZ CAMP look like Disneyland. These are flagrant HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY that must be protested. While the racist, hypocrite U.S. government parades around the world as the “champion of human rights”, at this very moment, it is engaged in a pattern and practice of STATE TERRORISM AND GENOCIDE against the prisoner-class here in this prison system. The majority of those of us in this type of PROLONGED SOLITARY CONFINEMENT ARE PEOPLE OF COLOR! (more…)
